What is CBM packaging

CBM stands for cubic meters and is the industry standard of measure for freight shipments. When you order packaging from PackMojo, we will always pack them flat (if possible) and place them into shipping cartons. The total CBM of your shipment (and sometimes total weight) determines the final shipping price that is paid.

Here's the formula to calculate the CBM for an individual shipping carton (assuming the dimensions are in centimeters):

• CBM = [length (cm) x width (cm) x height (cm)] ÷ 1,000,000

If your shipment has different sized items, simply repeat the calculation for each size, then add each CBM together.

As an example, if we have a shipment with 2 shipping cartons that measures 30cm x 30cm x 30cm, and 3 shipping cartons that measures 50cm x 50cm x 50cm, here's how we would calculate CBM:

• Carton 1 - (30cm x 30cm x 30cm) ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.027 CBM x 2 cartons = 0.054 CBM.
• Carton 2 - (50cm x 50cm x 50cm) ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.125 CBM x 3 cartons = 0.375 CBM.
• Combined CBM = 0.429 (0.054 + 0.375).
