Debossing is a process used to create indented designs (photograph shows embossing above and debossing below). These sunken designs, opposite of embossing, similarly add texture and dimension to any packaging. Able to be performed on a variety of packaging products, the additional tactile and visual effects often help to elevate a brand's image by adding a premium look and feel to the packaging.
Debossing works well for rigid boxes or cardstock products such as folding carton boxes. Due to the composition of corrugated packaging, we recommend avoiding debossing on corrugated materials. To understand more, read about embossing and debossing on various materials here.
